In his quest to "paint the picture of a vibrant Detroit," Don Was joins with six of his Motown allies to create a soul-deep, African groove, in their band called the Pan-Detroit Ensemble. Don Was & The Pan Detroit Ensemble mixes the city's global musical roots into a contemporary jazz jambalaya. The result is a sound that could only emanate from musicians raised in the Motor City, whose music is drawn from the diverse cultures brought by workers from all over the world in Detroit's post-WWII boom.
