Traveling Home features Deluxe Triple Album w/ live concert, rare tracks and new tunes!
Triple platinum recording artist and award winning world visionary Idan Raichel with the Idan Raichel Project is releasing a new album in the US entitled Traveling Home (Helicon Records) which features two live recordings together with a third CD of new tracks and special rare recordings.
The New York Times calls Idan an ‘Israeli Singer of the world’… he has worked with about 100 different musicians and singers to fuse traditional Middle Eastern instruments with electronic sounds, and to combine Jewish music with that of regions ranging from West Africa to Latin America and India. And while Hebrew dominates his lyrics, his songs are peppered with languages including Arabic, Amharic, Swahili, Spanish and Creole Portuguese. His first album was a commercial success, selling 200,000 copies.”
This is the first live album for the award winning and internationally renowned singer, musician, producer and humanitarian. A collection of performances in Hebrew, Arabic, Swahili, Amharic, Spanish and more, Traveling Home is a selection of songs from recently recorded live performances and features more than 40 musicians from Colombia, Mali, Rwanda, Israel and the Idan Raichel Project Touring Party. It includes songs “Bo’ee”(come with me), “Mi’ma’amakim” (Out of the Depths), “Im Telech” (If You Go), “Ayal Ayale”, “Brong Faya” and other critically acclaimed favorites. This live musical collection is available as a double CD or in a Deluxe Edition featuring a third CD entitled “From Here and There” that offers rare tracks and new songs “Addiction” featuring Moroccan singer Shimon Buskila, “Say God” featuring Vieux Farka Toure from Mali, and “Mom, Dad and Everyone Else”- a special song written by a soldier who lost his life during the Yom Kippur War, together with other very special performances.
Billboard Magazine calls Idan Raichel “One of the most fascinating titles to emerge in world music,” while the The Jewish Journal says he “has both a gift for creating beautiful music and the courage to spread a message. He preaches universalism, the power of shunning labels and celebrating humanity.”
Idan is currently collaborating with the notable singer songwriter India.Arie for a Fall 2011 release entitled Open Door. The two had the opportunity to debut a song they wrote together for the album entitled “Gift of Acceptance” at the Noble Peace Prize Concert in Oslo, Norway in December.
In addition to Ms. Arie, Idan Raichel has upcoming projects with Vieux Farka Toure and the legendary songwriter/producer Larry Klein. In between tour dates with The Idan Raichel Project in support of Traveling Home, Idan is touring with India.Arie in the states.
