Joe Lovano, joined by family and friends, delivers a virtuoso Tri-C JazzFest performance

Treasures come in all forms. For some, it might be Spanish doubloons from an ancient shipwreck. To others, it might be a family heirloom, maybe the brooch mom’s great-great-great-great-grandma brought over from the old country.
For Clevelanders and jazz lovers, it’s gotta be Joe Lovano.
The city’s favorite son – and arguably its most successful performing jazz master – delivered a 90-minute lesson in just what the genre can be in a stunning performance at PlayhouseSquare’s intimate Allen Theatre. The show was part of the 34th annual Tri-C JazzFest – and did triple duty as a primer in the complexity and joy inherent in jazz, a 60th birthday celebration for Lovano and a showcase for the considerable jazz talent that calls Cleveland home.
