Ladysmith Black Mambazo, World-famous group heading to Marion

A four time Grammy winning musical group is making their way to Southern Illinois.

South Africa’s Ladysmith Black Mambazo will be performing at the Marion Cultural and Civic Center on Monday, Feb. 17.
They are currently on tour in support of their latest album, Always With Us. Ladysmith Black Mambazo has been together for over 50 years.

‘It is going great, the tour has been wonderful,’ said group member Albert Mazibuko. He has been with the group for 45 years.

Mazibuko said that the show is a mix of everything, ‘Beautiful music, wonderful dancing and a vibrant show.’ He said that it will also include how Mambazo began and their mission.

Their new album Always With Us, pays tribute to Nellie Shabalala, the late wife of Joseph Shabalala, Black Mambazo founder-leader. The album includes songs featuring their own voices alongside vocals Nellie recorded before her death in 2002.
