Madonna. Prince. Jimi. They’re all pop artists who don’t need a surname to identify them.
Thanks to James Brown, alto saxophonist Maceo Parker fits in that category.
Mr. Parker, who played with the Godfather of Soul on and off for 40 years, comes to the Byham Theater Friday to do the same thing he’s been doing all that time.
