‘Desfado’ Reaches Five Platinum and Becomes the Best Seller Portugese Album of the Decade

The news that Desfado reached, this week, the award of Quintuple Platinum is an auspicious starting point for the new album of Ana Moura. An important milestone for a record and an artist that continue to make history: it is the best-selling national album of the decade.

For 145 consecutive weeks in the Portuguese top chart, “Desfado” globalized Ana Moura. The first record released worldwide by Universal Music, through Decca, reached the 1st place several weeks in Portugal, having also reached the 1st place of the World Music charts in England, Spain and the United States.

“Desfado” brought together some of the best composers of the present time and the single that names the record became the first fado to be played in national mainstream radios. The tour “Desfado” led Ana Moura to large national and international stages, singing to large crowds in more than 300 concerts worldwide after editing the album.

About to release a new album, Ana Moura is the most prestigious and internationally renowned contemporary Portuguese artist. The successor of “Desfado”, yet unnamed, is expected to be released before the end of 2015 in Portugal. More details to be revealed soon.
