Stars are aligning for Latin Grammys’ ‘big night’ on Nov. 19

The Latin Grammys aren’t billed as “the biggest night in Latin music” for nothing.
The tagline — a legal trademark belonging to the Recording Academy, by the way — is hardly hyperbole.
Because when the music starts on Nov. 19 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, most of the biggest stars in the Latin pop universe will be under the same roof.
The ceremony, which begins at 9 p.m., will be broadcast on Univision, and the network’s coverage will include a special pre-show, “Noche de Estrellas,” starting one hour prior.
Leading the pack of nominees this year are a pair of Mexican artists. Leonel Garcia, a former member of Sin Bandera, gathered six nominations for his romantic album “Amor Futuro,” including Record of the Year and Song of the Year.
Singer-songwriter Natalia Lafourcade, meanwhile, got five nods for her delicate confessional effort, “Hasta la Raíz,” including Album of the Year and one nomination shared with Garcia for the album’s title track.
