Brad Mehldau, Wigmore Hall, London ‘” ‘Remarkable’

As the Wigmore Hall’s grand piano reverberated with rumbling arpeggios, rippling ostinatos and dense, resonant chords, it was easy to imagine that an orchestra was at work. But there is more than grandeur to Brad Mehldau’s solo performances, and for two consecutive nights the US pianist delivered pomp and pure melody in equal measure.
